The research findings can be summarized as follows: First, the mean scores of the husbands¡¯ intention for participation in child rearing were 3.50, and those of the wives¡¯ perceptions of theri actual participation in child rearing were 2.34, which means the latter were lower than the former by 1.18 points. There were positive correlations between high intention for participation in child rearing and actual participation in child rearing with significant differences.
Second, the husbands¡¯ intention for participation in child rearing and the wives¡¯ perceptions of their actual participation in child rearing were compared by the areas. As a result, the area of sentiment and welfare was the highest, being followed by hygiene, household chores, and nursing in the order.
